Indians Drop Close One To White Co.

White County comes from behind to force a region split with Stephens County on the baseball diamond.

Monday in Cleveland, the Indians had the lead early, but White County came from behind to beat Stephens County, 6-5.

Stephens County scored three runs without a hit in the first inning and added two more in the third inning on a two-run double by Houston Mullinix to take a 5-0 lead.

However, White County tied it up with four runs in the third inning and another in the fourth inning.

The Warriors then took the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth inning on two hits.

Kole Rogers took the loss for the Indians, pitching into the fifth inning and giving up seven hits for the game.

Dawson Sorrells finished out the game for Stephens County, striking out three of the five hitters he faced.

Offensively, Bryson Fowler had two of the Indians’ five hits.

With the win, White County improves to 3-6 overall and 1-1 in Region 8-AAAA.

Meanwhile, the loss drops Stephens County to 5-7 overall and 1-1 in the region as well.

Stephens County returns to the road for another region baseball game on Wednesday in Danielsville against Madison County.

First pitch on Wednesday will be 5:55 p.m. with air time on AM 630 WNEG and wnegradio.com set for 5:45 p.m.
