Indians Drop Baseball Twinbill

Stephens County drops both ends of a baseball doubleheader.

Saturday, the Indians faced both Chestatee and Hart County at the Reservation in Toccoa in non-region play.

The Indians lost both games, falling to Chestatee, 3-2, and then losing to Hart County, 5-3.

In the first game, Stephens County jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a home run from Kooper Briley and an RBI single from Austin Page.

However, Chestatee scored two runs in the fifth inning, then took the lead for good in the top of the seventh inning with a run.

The Indians had runners on base in both the sixth and seventh innings, but could not score.

Then in the second game, the Indians managed only two hits off of sidearm starter Zach Wright as Hart County picked up its first win of the season, 5-3.

Bryson Fowler and Cole Beitzel had the RBIs for Stephens County.

Gabe White started for the Indians and struck out six, but walked six. Kole Rogers relieved White in the fourth inning and finished out the game.

Stephens County is now 6-3 on the season.

They are back in action today at East Jackson, the first of four games scheduled in five days.
