Indians Defeat Titans in Friday Night Game

Stephens County Indians sophomore right-hander Dawson Sorrells ran his record to 7-2 with a 5-2 win over the North Oconee Titans Friday night in high school baseball.  The Indians took two out of three games in the series and kept their playoff hopes alive.

Stephens County trailed 1-0 going into the third inning when they scored four runs.  Kooper Briley had a bases loaded double to score two runs, followed by a sacrifice fly by Bryson Fowler.  Briley scored later on a wild pitch.  Chaz Bridges tripled to right field in the fourth inning and Austin Page brought him home with a sacrifice fly.

Sorrells gave up eight hits, walked one and didn’t strike out anybody.  Titans pitcher Josh Farmer took the loss, scattering six hits and striking out seven.

The win tied the Indians and North Oconee along with St. Pius with 5-7 region 8-AAAA records and sets up an important series this week with St. Pius.  Monday’s game is in Atlanta with game time at 5pm and air time on WNEG Radio will be 4:45PM.
