The Stephens County Indian baseball team is in first place in Region 8-AAAA following a 7-1 win over the Eastside Eagles Monday night at the Reservation.
Senior left-hander Austin Lord remained undefeated on the mound for the season as he gave up just five singles and struck out six in going the distance.
For Eastside, junior left-hander Peyton Pallay took the loss.
Stephens County scored three runs in the second inning on no hits, taking advantage of four Eastside errors in the inning.
Lord then helped his own cause by driving in two runs with a single in the third inning and added another RBI in the fifth inning.
Josh Slate and Davis McCall also had RBIs.
The win is the eighth in a row for the Indians, who are now 15-3 overall and 10-1 in region play.
Eastside has now lost three of four overall and is 17-4 overall and 9-2 in region play.
The Indians will travel to Covington Wednesday to visit Eastside in the second game of their two-game series.
