Indians and Hart To Scrimmage Tonight on Gridiron

The Stephens County High School football team will prepare for the regular season against another rival tonight.

Stephens County hosts Hart County tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Reservation in Toccoa in the Indians’ second scrimmage game.

Last week, the Indians scrimmaged Habersham Central and won 27-14 over the Raiders.

Indians’ Head Coach Frank Barden said that they are excited about having a second scrimmage game before the regular season starts.

“Hart County is going to be a good look for us on film and a very talented team, a very athletic team,” said Barden. “It is always fun when Hart and Stephens get together.”

Barden said he thinks the game will also be beneficial as another opportunity to see what younger players can do against an opponent.

“You get to put kids in a game-time situation and then you can come back that next week and watch it on a film, you can get a lot accomplished with that,” said Barden. “You are really evaluating who is a Friday night player and who is a Thursday afternoon player and still developing.”

Barden said the game should also be fun for the fans as a rivalry game and he is hoping for a good crowd.

He said the scrimmage will be played as if it were a regular game, especially in the first three quarters.

For those who cannot make it to the Reservation tonight to watch the Indians and the Bulldogs in person, AM 630 WNEG and wnegradio.com will broadcast tonight’s scrimmage starting at 7:15 p.m.
