Indian Wrestlers Take Third in Area Duals

Stephens County High School takes third place in the Area Wrestling Duals tournament.

The Indians traveled to St. Pius for the 2017 Area Duals tournament on Monday.

For the tournament, the Indians went 3-1 overall.

In the quarterfinal round, the Indians defeated North Oconee, 65-6.

Advancing into the semifinals, the Indians faced Oconee County, and were defeated, 47-23.

At that point, the Indians faced Madison County and defeated the Red Raiders, 48-24.

In the final match of the night, the Indians faced host St. Pius and were victorious, 46-32, to take home third place.

Leading the Indians on Monday were Lee Massey and Jay Stowe, who were 4-0 on the night.

Brooks McLaughlin, Nikko Beady, Cole Simmons, Eli Alexander, Gavin Walker, and Garrison Walker were all 3-1.

Jefferson defeated Oconee County in the championship match to win the tournament.

Next up for the Indians is a home quad match this Friday against Habersham, Hart, and East Hall.

Matches begin at 5 p.m.
