Indian Wrestlers Finish Second In Arrowhead Classic

Stephens County High School Indian wrestlers finish near the top in their annual wrestling tournament.

Last Saturday, Stephens County hosted the Arrowhead Classic.

The Indians took second place in the tournament out of 11 teams.

First place went to West Oak, South Carolina, a former state champion in that state.

Finishing third in the team standings was perennial AAA wrestling power Dawson County.

Gary Walker brought home an individual championship for the Indians in the 285-pound weight class and is now 14-0 on the year with three individual tournament titles.

Placing second were Jake Murray in the 132 pound class and Devin DeShazer in the 145 pound class.

Third place finishers from Stephens County included Corey Kindel at 120 pounds, Jose Cannon at 160 pounds, Devin Burns at 182 pounds, and Logan Loudermilk at 195 pounds.

Blake Peeples finished fourth at 170 pounds.

Also participating and earning team points for the Indians were Brooks McLaughlin, Javon Jones, Jay Stowe, and Gavin Walker.

Stephens County High School wrestling is back in action after the New Year, traveling to Cherokee, North Carolina for a tournament on January 3.
