Indian Baseball Wins Home Opener

Sophomore left-hander Gabe White surrendered just two singles as the Stephens County Indians’ baseballl team defeated Habersham Central 7-1 Friday night in Toccoa in the Indians’ home opener.

White struck out six and walked one in his five innings of work. He gave up a run in the first inning, then shut down the Raiders the rest of the way.

The Indians did not score until the fifth inning when Kooper Briley drew a bases loaded walk.

That was followed by a two-run single by Bryson Fowler and a sacrifice fly by Zach Boyd.

Briley added some insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning with a three-run home run.

The Indians are 2-0 and are back in action Tuesday at Hart County.
