Indian Baseball Picks Up Another Win

Stephens County starts the 2015 high school baseball season 2-0.

The Indians broke open a tie game in the fifth inning to beat Hart County Monday at the Reservation, 5-3.

Monday’s game was moved from Hartwell to Toccoa due to field conditions.

Tied at 2 in the bottom of the fifth, the Indians took the lead for good when back to back errors plated Kooper Briley and Mason Long, who had both reached base to start the inning.

Briley also contributed an RBI single in the sixth inning for Stephens County.

The Indians also got a solo homerun from Ben Cleveland and an RBI single from Kenneth Brock.

Evan Rumsey picked up the win on the mound for Stephens County, going 5 innings and allowing just two runs on four hits.

Mason Long got the save for the Indians, pitching two innings of 1-run, 1-hit ball.

While Stephens County moves to 2-0 on the season, Hart County falls to 1-1.

Stephens County is scheduled to be back in action on Wednesday at Oconee County for a non-region game.
