Indian Baseball Opens Season With Win

The Stephens County Indian baseball team starts the season with a win.

Sophomores Dawson Sorrells and Davis Swenson pitched six innings of shutout baseball and the Indians rolled to an 11-0 victory in their season opener on the road at Chestatee on Wednesday.

Sorrells struck out eight in four innings and allowed just two hits to pick up the win.

Swenson then came in to relieve Sorrells and pitched two innings of hitless ball, striking out two.

Griff Pruitt led the Indians offensively, going 3 for 4 at the plate with four RBIs.

The Indians also got two hits each from Bryson Fowler and Dylan Huff at the plate.

Stephens County returns to Toccoa for the home opener on Friday when they host Habersham Central in a non-region baseball game at the Reservation.

Air time for Friday’s game is 5:20 p.m. with first pitch set for 5:30 p.m. on WNEG and wnegradio.com.
