Indian Baseball Edged By War Eagles

The Stephens County Indians lost to Chestatee Wednesday night in Gainesville, 6 to 5, in a Region 8-AAAA baseball contest.

With the games tied going into the bottom of the 5th inning, Chestatee scored two runs on 3 hits to take the lead 5 to 3.

Both teams added 1 run each in the 6th inning.

But the Indians could not complete the comeback in the 7th, scoring one run and leaving 2 runners on base to end the game.

Indians starting pitcher Dawson Sorrells went 4 2/3 innings while giving up 7 hits and walking just one batter.

Dawson Dean pitched the final 1 1/3 innings.

Stephens Co. had 11 hits, compared to Chestatee’s 8 hits, but the Indians left 13 men on base.

Jacob Haddock and Cole Morgan each had 3 hits to lead the Indian bats.

Stephens County drops to 9-13 overall and 5-7 in Region play.

Chestatee improves to 7-12 overall and 4-6 in the region.

Stephens County does not play again until next Wednesday when they host Monroe Area at the Reservation–game time is scheduled for 5:55 with airtime on WNEG at 5:45 p.m.
