March 26, 2013

Senior left-hander Austin Lord ran his record to 5-0 on the season with a 4-0 win over the Walnut Grove Warriors Monday night at the Reservation.

Lord gave up just one hit in six innings, a single in the fifth inning, and fanned 11 in gaining the win.

Ryan Cleveland provided all of the runs Lord would need with a three-run blast in the first inning, his seventh home run of the season.

The Indians then scored a run without benefit of a hit in the sixth when Logan Bell reached base on an error and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Casey Dickerson.

Ryan Cleveland pitched a solid seventh inning for the Indians, striking out two.

Walnut Grove’s starting pitcher, sophomore lefty Andrew Robinson, took the loss. He pitched well after the first inning, striking out rive and scattering seven hits.

The Indians are now 8-3 on the season and 3-1 in Region 8-AAAA. The loss was the first in region play for Walnut Grove, who is now 6-8 overall and 3-1 in region play.

Stephens County next travels to Johnson High School on Wednesday for a Region 8-AAAA contest. Game time is 5:55 p.m. and air time on AM 630 WNEG and is set for 5:45 p.m.
