Indian Baseball Beats Knights

The Stephens County Indians snapped a three-game losing streak with a 10-4 win Monday night over the Johnson Knights at the Reservation.

Zack Boyd picked up the win with five innings of work, giving up four runs on four hits and striking out three.

Dawson Sorrells finished out the night, going two innings, giving up no runs, three hits, and striking out two.

Chaz Bridges and Cole Morgan each had two RBIs Monday night and Zack Boyd, Bryson Fowler, and Kole Rogers each added an RBI.

The Indians had an 8-0 lead going into the fifth inning when the Knights cut the lead in half at 8-4.

However, Stephens County picked up insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings to seal the region win.

Stephens County is now 6-9 overall and 2-3 in region play.

Johnson falls to 1-14 overall and 0-5 in the region.

The two teams will play the second of their two-game series on Wednesday in Oakwood. Game time from Johnson High School on Wednesday will be 5:55 p.m. with air time on AM 630 WNEG and wnegradio.com set for 5:45 p.m.
