Ida Cox Music Series Performer Change Announced for Saturday

A last minute change results in a new artist for this week’s edition of the Ida Cox Music Series in downtown Toccoa.

Originally, “The Heap” was scheduled to perform this Saturday night at the weekly free concert series on Doyle Street.

However, Toccoa Main Street Events Coordinator Sharon Crosby said “The Heap” was booked on a tour and has had to cancel its appearance in Toccoa.

“They were very popular,” said Crosby. “They have been with us every year since we started the Ida Cox Series, so we were all very disappointed when we found out they had cancelled and they were not going to be able to come.”

Crosby said that instead, “The Maggie Valley Band” will headline this Saturday’s Ida Cox Music Series.

She said she feels they will be a great addition to the line-up.

“They are out of Knoxville, Tennessee,” said Crosby. “They originated out of North Carolina. It was a set of sisters who started it. If anyone would like to, they can go online and check them out. It is kind of a fusion of bluegrass and folk. It is kind of a unique style of music, but I think that people will really enjoy it.”

The Ida Cox Music Series concert starts at 7 p.m. on Doyle Street in downtown Toccoa.

Admission is free and as the headline act, “The Maggie Valley Band” will take the stage at about 8 p.m.
