Ida Cox Music Series Continues Saturday

The Ida Cox Music Series in downtown Toccoa is moving into its second month.

The annual concert series kicked off last month for another summer.

Main Street Toccoa Events Coordinator Sharon Crosby said that it has gone well over the first four weeks of the series.

“We have been very pleased with the turnout we have this year,” said Crosby. “We are thankful for everyone who is coming and supporting the event.”

The Ida Cox Music Series is named after Ida Cox. She was a Toccoa native who was a vaudeville performer and became one of the pioneers of the blues genre of music.

If weather permits, the concerts are each Saturday night from 7 to 10 p.m. outside on Doyle Street in downtown Toccoa.

In case of rain, the concerts are moved indoors to the Schaefer Center.

Either way, the Ida Cox concerts are free to attend.

This Saturday, the concert series continues with Chuck Taylor and Friends.

Crosby said that they are looking forward to a great show.

“Chuck Taylor has many friends who will be coming out and playing with him,” said Taylor. “He has quite a following in the area so we are hopeful we will have a good turnout.”

The Ida Cox Music Series will run every Saturday night through August 8.
