Hydrant Flushing Continues in Toccoa

Hydrant flushing continues on the Toccoa water system for the remainder of this month.

City water department crews started opening and flushing fire hydrants throughout the Toccoa water system on the evening of Sunday, October 5.

The hydrant flushing is expected to continue through Thursday, October 30.

According to city officials, this “free-flow” operation flushes out possible sediment build-up and harmless impurities.

Officials said that during hydrant flushing, water customers may experience a temporary reduction in water pressure, as well as turbid, or cloudy, water.

The city said that in an effort to minimize inconvenience, it will be opening hydrants between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
