Humane Shelter Director’s Contract Extended

The Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter Board gives Shelter Director Jeff Roberts a one-year extension.

Shelter Board Chair Stanley London made the announcement Monday.

He said the one-year extension of Roberts’ contract came by a 5-1 vote, with board member Joan Allen voting “no.”

“I think right now, he is just getting things worked out from the previous situations we have been in,” said London.

Meanwhile, Roberts said he is pleased to receive the contract extension.

“There are a lot of things we have accomplished but there are a lot more things to accomplish in the community,” said Roberts.

The shelter board hired Roberts last year and he began work on August 1, 2013.

He received a previous six-month contract extension in July of this year.

There were no changes to the terms of the contract.
