The Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter Board has some new members and officers in place for the year ahead.
Tuesday, the shelter board elected its officers for 2014, while also taking care of appointing some new board members to replace board members whose terms are expiring.
Under a plan approved by the shelter board earlier in the year, the board appointments of Ron Seib, Harold Andrews, and Angie Garland, expire this month.
Incoming Toccoa City Commissioner Evan Hellenga was announced to be in line to replace Seib as one of the city’s appointments to the shelter board.
Meanwhile, Stephens County Commissioner Dean Scarborough was appointed by the county commission earlier this year to fill Andrews’ unexpired term as a county appointee on the shelter board. Scarborough is expected to be appointed by the county commission to serve another term.
Finally, the board elected Peggy Chambers to take the at-large board seat of Angie Garland, who is rotating off.
As for the board’s officers for the coming year, Stanley London will serve as the Shelter Board Chairman, Hellenga will serve as the Shelter Board Vice-Chair, Chambers will serve as its Secretary, and Michelle Jamieson will serve as the board’s Treasurer.
All of the officer elections and Chambers’ appointment to the board were approved unanimously.
