Hospital Still Working on Wilkinson Addition

Stephens County Hospital said an addition at its Wilkinson Center is now looking at a mid-August opening date.

According to Hospital Administrator Lynne Anderson, crews are still finishing up work on the project and it has taken a little bit longer than first anticipated.

“We just had a little bit of a slowdown with the finishing touches,” said Anderson. “They have gotten most of the outside work completed. Still have some finishing to do on the outside work. Now they are doing all of the inside work.”

Last month, Anderson had said that the goal was to have the addition at the Wilkinson Center ready to go at the end of this month.

She did say that the hospital has also gotten all its paperwork in line for the project.

Construction on the six new units at the Wilkinson Center began back in January.

Each of the six new units will house two people comfortably and will include a small kitchen, a living room area, a study that could also function as a separate bedroom, a walk-in closet, and a patio.

The units will be about 1000 square feet each and will connect to the main Wilkinson Center through a heated hallway.

Anderson said that the hospital has already received deposits from people for all six units to move in when they are ready.
