Hospital Gets Joint Commission Accreditation Visit

Stephens County Hospital receives word that it is on track for re-accreditation by the Joint Commission.

Hospital Administrator Lynne Anderson said that representatives from the Joint Commission were at the hospital a couple of weeks ago for a two-day accreditation visit.

Anderson said the visits are unannounced until the morning the Joint Commission arrives and when they are there, the Joint Commission representatives can visit the hospital, the Wound Care Center, and other places.

She said the visit went very well with the Joint Commission.

“They were here for two days,” said Anderson. “We did very well with that. We have a few things we need to fix as anticipated and a lot of them were corrected while they were here. They were minor things and we just took care of them right then, so they will come back in 45 days just to make sure we corrected those things and we will move forward. I am very proud of all the hard work that everybody did and we had a great outcome.”

Anderson said that after the return visit, the re-accreditation should become official.

Joint Commission accreditation is a process that the hospital goes through every three years.

The last time was in September 2013.

Based out of Chicago, the Joint Commission accredits most of the hospitals in the United States, as well as certifying hospitals in other parts of the world.
