Hospital Celebrates New Surgeons

Stephens County Hospital celebrates its new general surgeons.

On Wednesday, the Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting for the hospital’s general surgery practice, which opened a few months ago.

Staffing the practice are Dr. Mark Herndon and Dr. Dearl Birdsong.

Hospital Administrator Lynne Anderson said that they are well-trained general surgeons the hospital is thrilled to have on its team.

“We are very fortunate to have them,” said Anderson. “In general surgery, they do a variety of surgical cases. They do colonoscopies; they can do esophagoscopies; appendectomies; gall bladder surgeries.”

The office is located on Falls Road in Toccoa and the doctors are accepting patients by referral and by appointment.
