Hayestone-Brady Signage for New Hwy. 17 Moving Along

Work is moving forward on new signage for the Hayestone-Brady Business Park that will front the park along the new, four-lane Georgia Highway 17.

Stephens County Development Authority Executive Director Tim Martin said that the SCDA board discussed the new signage that will be at the intersection of Hammerstone Drive and the new Highway 17 at its meeting last Thursday.

Martin said the board took action regarding the design of that signage.

“The board voted to pick the color for the roof and the shingles and the rock for that 25-foot-tall structure that will be visible north and south up and down the new highway,” said Martin.

Martin said this was an important decision.

He said progress can now be made on making sure that signage is installed.

“Materials will be ordered now and we believe within the next 30 days or so that sign will be erected,” said Martin. “We are getting electricity installed to it so it will be lit at night. The timing on this is all to be completed prior to being able to first drive on that highway. That will be the new entrance into the Hayestone-Brady Business Park.”

According to the last report from the Georgia Department of Transportation, that part of the new, four-lane Highway 17 is scheduled for completion in either late Summer or early Fall.

Even after it is complete, Martin said that people will also still be able to access the park on Hammerstone Drive from what is the current, two-lane Highway 17, that will become a county road.
