Hartwell to Host Bike Ride, Car Show and Music Festival this Weekend

CHARLES ANTHONY, WLHR

This weekend will be a full one in Hart County.

Henley Cleary of the Hartwell DDA said that on top of the 27th Annual Challenge of the Centuries Bike ride being put on by the Kiwanis club, there will also be several other events in the area.

“We have Cars and Guitars that people can come downtown after they finish the ride on Saturday and enjoy that,” said Cleary. “It’s an antique car show sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, brings lots of vendors, lots of cars, it really is a fun event.”

Cleary said that hopefully there will be public transportation available between the two events during the day on Saturday.

“What a lot of people do is when they finish riding their bikes, they take them back to the Y or take them downtown, but we’re going to work on having transportation for people who want to come back and forth.”

Saturday night in Hartwell will also provide even further entertainment for the public.

“Then that evening is the Hartwell Music Festival,” said Cleary. “They have a wonderful line-up of live music, so we are going to suggest that the bike riders take advantage of that.”

The bike ride will take place both Saturday and Sunday in Hart County and the three rides are distanced at 35, 65 and 100 miles long. Cars and Guitars will be in Downtown Hartwell from 10 to 2 this Saturday, and the Lake Hartwell Music festival will run from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., and will be held at the end of Old 29 and Long Point. Tickets at the door of the music festival will be $20.
