The Stephens County Indian baseball team failed to complete a three-game sweep of rival HartCounty as the Bulldogs picked up a 5-4 win in extra innings on Tuesday night in Hartwell.
Kain Hewitt and Chris Wilson engaged in a pitchers’ duel through six innings.
Then, Ben Cleveland blasted a three-run home run to dead center field to give the Indians a 4-1 lead.
Hart County came back the next inning to score three runs and tie the game at 4.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Luke Brown reached on an error and the next two batters laid down bunts.
Colt Phillips won the game for Hart County with an RBI single to left to drive in the winning run.
Ben Cleveland led the Indians at the plate, going 3 for 4 with three RBIs and a stolen base.
Mason Long added two hits.
The Indians return to action on Monday as they host Madison County at the Reservation to begin region play.
