Hart Co. Native To Take Over as GDOT Chief Engineer

Hart County native Russell McMurry will take over as the new Chief Engineer for the Georgia Department of Transportation.

He will succeed Gerald Ross, who retires December 31.

McMurry currently serves as Director of Engineering Services for Georgia DOT. He previously spent five years as the Department’s District Engineer for Northeast Georgia as well as holding several other positions in that region and on the Department’s general office staff.

McMurry, a licensed Professional Engineer, has worked for Georgia DOT since 1990. He is a cum laude graduate of Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering Technology.
