The Hart County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a rash of ATV thefts in recent weeks.

Hart County Sheriff Mike Cleveland said the thefts have been going on for the past couple of weeks and investigators need the public’s help to find the person or persons responsible.

“Yes we do,” Cleveland said. “There’s five four-wheelers gone from here and some I’ve been told from ElbertCounty and WilkesCounty. They’re having the same problem. Whether they’re all connected, we don’t know, but somebody out there knows something.”

Cleveland said the thefts began about two weeks ago and so far, there have been a number of ATV thefts throughout HartCounty.

“In the last two weeks, we’ve had a total of five in Hartwell and HartCounty, one in Lavonia, one in town and one in the Flat Rock Community near Nuberg. As of yet, we don’t have a name to put with them.”

Anyone with information on who the suspects might be is asked to contact the Hart County Sheriff’s office at 706-376-3114.
