Habersham Grand Jury to Look at Drug Raid Today

A Habersham County grand jury is expected to take a look today at the case of a child injured in a Habersham County drug raid earlier this year.

The child, who was 19 months old at the time, was injured when authorities in Habersham County threw a “flashbang” grenade into a residence while serving a search warrant on May 28 at a home in Cornelia as part of a drug investigation.

Media reports have stated the child is continuing to recover from those injuries.

Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney Brian Rickman told the Northeast Georgian earlier this month that the grand jury will look at the case file to determine if the investigation is complete and after that, the grand jury would be able to make a determination on if there should be any charges filed in connection to the incident.
