Habersham EMC Issues Scam Warning

Habersham EMC is warning its members about a scam making the rounds.

The company said it has been notified that some members have received bogus telephone calls stating their power would be disconnected immediately unless they provided a credit card number for payment.

According to Habersham EMC Director of Member Services Susan Baker, people should never give out financial information during unsolicited phone calls.

Baker said that for verification purposes, it is always best for members to hang up at once and call Habersham EMC to confirm their account status.

Habersham EMC said customer services representatives can be reached at 706-754-2114, 706-865-4362, or 800-640-6812.

Habersham EMC serves customers in Habersham, Stephens, White, Rabun, Lumpkin, and Hall counties.
