Habersham Co. Warns Of Someone Impersonating Law Enforcement

habersham officer impersonatorAuthorities in Habersham County are warning the public to look out for someone impersonating an officer.

The incident occurred last Thursday, June 30 in the Mt. Airy area of Habersham County on Georgia Highway 197 past Habersham Central High School in the vicinity of Georgia Highway 365.

According to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, a male subject was driving a black Ford Crown Victoria with red flashing lights when he allegedly pulled the citizen over and asked for their driver’s license.

Authorities say the male subject went back to his car then came back to the citizen’s car and advised the citizen that their driver’s license was suspended and that the citizen was going to have to go with him.

The report from the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office says the citizen felt that something was wrong and told the male subject that they were going to call their parents to come get the car and asked him to call for another officer.

Habersham authorities say it was at that time the male subject told the citizen that it was their lucky day because he had gotten a call and had to leave.

The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office describes the individual as a white male in his mid to late 30’s with short curly hair, standing approximately 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, and weighing 200 to 215 pounds.
