Habersham Chief Magistrate Named

A new chief magistrate has been named in Habersham County.

The Northeast Georgian reports that Mountain Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judges Chan Caudell and Russell Smith have named 43-year-old Gerald William Johnson of Demorest to the seat.

That report states he will replace Chief Magistrate James Butterworth, who is retiring, and fill out Butterworth’s unexpired term through December 31, 2016.

According to the Northeast Georgian, Johnson is currently the chief investigator for the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office.
