Grand Jury Issues Several Indictments

A Toccoa woman faces a charge of Homicide by Vehicle in the First Degree after she was indicted this week by a Stephens County grand jury.

This week, the Stephens County grand jury indicted Kimberly Heather Bachelor of Madden Drive in Toccoa on charges of Homicide by Vehicle in the First Degree, Driving Under the Influence, and Failure to Maintain Lane.

It is in connection to a fatal one-vehicle accident that took place on Highway 145 near the Toccoa By-pass back in December.

In the early evening hours of December 3, Bachelor was driving northbound on Highway 145 when the Toccoa post of the Georgia State Patrol said she failed to negotiate a curve.

Troopers said the vehicle went off the road and struck a tree.

A passenger in the car, 44-year-old Ernest Evans of Cohutta, was airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital and passed away from injuries suffered on December 16.

The indictment alleged that Bachelor, who was 33 years old at the time of the wreck, was driving under the influence of methamphetamine and marijuana at the time of the wreck.

Meanwhile, Stephens County grand jurors also issued true bills of indictment this week against former Stephens County High School girls’ basketball coach Robert Anthony Daniel and former Stephens County Middle School fifth grade physical education teacher Keith Allen Foster.

Daniel was indicted on charges of Sexual Exploitation of Children, Incest, and Cruelty to Children in the First Degree.

Authorities alleged that the incidents happened between 2005 and 2011 and involved a family member.

Meanwhile, Foster was indicted on charges of Child Molestation, Aggravated Child Molestation, Incest, and Cruelty to Children in the First Degree.

According to the indictment, those alleged incidents involved a family member and took place between August 2008 and October 2015.
