GBI Conducting Autopsy Today on Clarkesville Mayor

An autopsy is scheduled for today on Clarkesville Mayor Terry Greene, who died in a shooting incident over the weekend.

The GBI said Greene’s autopsy will take place at the GBI’s Medical Examiner’s Office in Decatur.

Greene, who was 53 years old, suffered a gunshot wound to the head Sunday evening at his home in Clarkesville.

In a press release, the GBI said that agents with the Cleveland Regional Office were requested to assist the Clarkesville Police Department with the investigation into the death of the Clarkesville mayor.

GBI officials said that investigation began as a shooting incident that resulted from a reported domestic disturbance at the residence between Mayor Greene and his wife, Anne Greene.

The incident happened at about 7 p.m., according to a report on accessnorthga.com.

Greene was transported to Atlanta Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

GBI officials said the investigation is active and ongoing and no other details will be provided at this time.
