Ga. State Basketball Tournaments Starting This Weekend

Play gets underway this weekend in state basketball tournaments.

At the AAAA level, the Stephens County Lady Indians will be on the road tonight.

As the third seed out of Region 8-AAAA, the Lady Indians will travel to Decatur to visit Columbia High School, the second-seeded team out of Region 6-AAAA.

Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.

Air time on AM 630 WNEG and is set for 5:45 p.m.

Meanwhile, other first-round games involving Region 8-AAAA girls’ games include region champ Chestatee hosting Grady, second seeded Eastside hosting Marist, and fourth seeded Walnut Grove visiting Redan.

Looking at the boys’ side, Region 8-AAAA champion Johnson will host Stone Mountain, second seed Eastside will host Grady, third seeded Walnut Grove visits Marist, and fourth seeded Lumpkin County visits Columbia.

Moving to the AAA basketball tournaments, the Franklin County girls will be at home against Woodward Academy, while the Elbert County boys and girls and Hart County boys will also take part in AAA state basketball tournament play.
