The Georgia Department of Transportation will perform scheduled road work in a number of northeast Georgia counties this week.

According to the DOT, work will take place in Franklin and Banks counties.

In Franklin County, the DOT says crews will hand sweep State Routes 8 and 211, while another crew inspects drainage pipes on State Routes 174, 326, 63, and 320.

Meanwhile in Banks County, crews will clean, repair, and restore ditches along Interstate 85.

DOT officials said that most activities would only require shoulder or median lane closures.

Crews are scheduled to work today through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. if weather permits.

The DOT reminded motorists that they should reduce their speed in these and all work zones.
