Friday Structure Fire Considered Suspicious

An investigation continues into what caused a fire at a vacant house in Toccoa last week.

Both stations of the Toccoa Fire Department responded to a vacant house on East Franklin Street at about 3:05 a.m. Friday for a structure fire.

Crews remained on the scene about three hours.

Toccoa Fire Chief Tommy Ayers said that nobody was hurt in the fire, but the house suffered heavy fire damage on both the exterior and the interior of the structure.

Ayers said the fire is considered suspicious by authorities at this time.
