Lavonia voters said no on Tuesday to a liquor by the drink referendum.
Only 84 people cast a ballot out of the population of over 2,000 in that referendum that asked whether local restaurants in Lavonia should be allowed to serve alcohol by the drink on Sundays.
Of those 84, 43 said no and 41 said yes.
In August, the Lavonia City Council voted to put the referendum on the ballot.
Lavonia City Manager Gary Fesperman said the council chose to do that after the city was contacted by several local establishments.
In FranklinCounty there were few surprises.
Four of the county’s five municipalities had contested city council races.
In all of those races, incumbents easily kept their seats for another term.
Lavonia did not have a contested council race.
