Franklin Co. Commission Considers Re-zoning Requests

The Franklin County Commission had to decide on two re-zoning requests at its meeting on Monday night.

A public hearing was held for both requests just before the commission meeting, in which persons spoke both for and against both requests.

When the meeting began, Franklin County Engineer John Phillips presented the first request to the commissioners.

Phillips said the first request was for a rezoning and a conditional use permit for the property at 49 Woodrow Lane.

According to Phillips, the planning commission reviewed the application and they have recommended denial on both the request for the rezoning and the conditional use permit.

The Franklin County Commission then voted unanimously to deny that request.

Phillips then detailed the second, unrelated request that was for eight poultry houses on a 78 acre tract on Hull Road.

He said the proposed houses do satisfy Franklin County’s minimum setback requirements and the planning commission recommends that this conditional use permit be approved.
