Former Stephens Co. Coach, Teacher Charged in Hall Co.

June 3, 2013

A former Stephens County High School baseball coach who was most recently the head baseball coach at Johnson High School in Gainesville is facing a charge of public indecency in Hall County.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said it has charged 47-year-old Tony Ray Wilson of Buford with one count of misdemeanor public indecency on Tuesday.

According to Hall County authorities, a female teacher approached school officials at Johnson High School May 24 with a report that Wilson exposed himself to her in a classroom. Hall County school officials said that the incident occurred on what was a teacher workday and no students were in the building.

School officials then notified the school resource officer who began the investigation into the matter.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said that investigation is ongoing.

Wilson’s page on the Johnson High School website states that he has taught health and physical education at Johnson for the past five years, after spending 15 years teaching health and physical education at Toccoa Elementary School.

Hall County school officials said that Wilson has resigned from both his teaching and coaching positions at Johnson High School.
