Clarkesville Fire Remains Under Investigation

The investigation continues into what caused a fire that heavily damaged businesses on the downtown square in Clarkesville.

The fire started late Wednesday night and continued into the early morning hours today.

According to the Northeast Georgian, the fire started at Sweet Breads Café on East Water Street and completely destroyed that business.

The Northeast Georgian report states it then spread to some other businesses on the square.

Numerous fire departments were reported as responding to the fire.

No injuries were reported.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office says that its investigator would be on the scene this afternoon working to try to determine what caused the blaze.
