Almond St. Home Damaged in Tuesday Fire in Toccoa

July 24, 2013

Authorities are investigating a fire Tuesday in Toccoa.

Toccoa Fire Department crews were called to an Almond Street residence on Tuesday evening, just a little after 6 p.m., in reference to a fully involved house fire.

According to Toccoa Fire Chief Tommy Ayers, a fire had started in the front area of the home and made its way through the home by the time crews got on the scene.

Fire crews got the fire under control, but the home was heavily damaged.

Ayers said an individual was found by fire crews behind the home.

He added that the individual was not burned as a result of the fire, but was taken to Stephens County Hospital.

The individual has not been identified at this time.
