Stephens County High School will have a new principal next year.
According to the Human Resources Report approved by the Stephens County Board of Education Tuesday, current Stephens County High School Principal Felton Stephens will resign from his position as principal at the high school effective June 30.
Stephens has been at the high school as principal since 2009 after replacing David Friend. He had served as an assistant principal at Stephens County High School from 2007 to 2009.
Before coming to Stephens County, Stephens was principal at Buncombe Community School in North Carolina. In addition, he was a teacher and coach at Mars Hill College.
The Stephens County School System currently has two principal positions that will be open.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Toccoa Elementary School Principal David Jacobsen would retire.
