The Federal Bureau of Investigation confirms it had a presence in Stephens County on Tuesday.

According to an e-mail from FBI Spokesman Special Agent Stephen Emmett, Tuesday’s law enforcement presence, which included the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and its various other federal, state, and local law enforcement partners, was in support of a federal search warrant being executed regarding an ongoing criminal investigation.

Emmett goes on to say that during the course of that investigation, additional information was learned that necessitated Tuesday’s operation.

He adds that the matter is currently in the court system and the search warrants are sealed at this time.

For that reason, Emmett says that he is not a position to provide any other details on the search warrant at this time.

Reports indicate that it was the home of Ray Adams, one of two men facing trial over charges of attempted production of ricin and conspiring to possess and produce ricin as part of an alleged plot to attack the U.S. government.
