Family Connection Fundraiser Coming Up This Month

Family Connection of Stephens County is once again pitting adults against 5th graders in a fun competition for an annual fundraiser.

The 2nd annual “Are You Smarter than a Stephens County 5th Grader?” is coming up on Saturday, October 24th at 6:30 p.m. at the Tugaloo Center for the Performing Arts at Stephens County High School in Toccoa.

Family Connection of Stephens County Executive Director Allyson Warren says teams of two to three people can sign up now to participate in the event.

Warren said those teams will then compete against Stephens County 5th graders.

“Fifth graders have been selected by their teachers as both bright and having the personality to be up on stage,” said Warren. “It is a really fun event and we always remind our adults that the idea is not show how smart you are, but to show how smart our fifth graders are.”

According to Warren, people who raise or donate $50 can form their own 2 to 3 person team.

Sponsorships are also available and people are invited to come out and watch the event on the night of October 24th.

Warren said all of the money raised will benefit a good cause.

“It is for Family Connection of Stephens County in support of our programs, which include our 0 to 5 reading program through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, our Mentoring program, and it is also going to benefit a new program that we have called First Steps Georgia, which is a maternal education program,” said Warren.
