Employer Committee Recognizes Law Enforcement, First Responders

Local law enforcement and first responders receive recognition from a local committee.

The Northeast Georgia Employer Committee held its annual Employment Law Seminar on Thursday at the Pointe Church on Highway 17 in Stephens County.

Charles Craig is the President of the Northeast Georgia Employer Committee.

Craig said that supporting these local groups is something the committee tries to do each year.

“We have an Employment Law Seminar once a year with all of the employers where we bring attorneys in from all over and with the money we raise we try to support local agencies,” said Craig.

Craig went on to say it is just the committee’s way of showing that they are behind local law enforcement and first responders.

This year, the Toccoa Police Department and Stephens County Sheriff’s Office each received money to purchase a bullet-proof vest, the Toccoa Fire Department received a projector to help with training, and Stephens County EMS received a back-up camera for an ambulance.

He added that the seminar is also an opportunity for local businesses to receive employment law training.

“It will give us about three hours of good education,” said Craig.

Craig said the committee is grateful for all of the support it receives, especially the support of the Georgia Department of Labor.
