FINAL UNOFFICIAL STEPHENS CO. ELECTION RESULTS

Stephens County voters mirror the state of Georgia in the Presidential Preference Primary.

Tuesday, voters in Stephens County chose Donald Trump as the Republican nominee and Hillary Clinton as the Democratic nominee in Tuesday’s Georgia presidential primary.

On the Republican side in Stephens County, Trump received 1726 votes, or 41.46 percent of the vote.

Finishing second in Stephens County among Republicans was Marco Rubio with 919 votes, or 22.08 percent, with Ted Cruz in third with 883 votes, or 21.21 percent.

Ben Carson finished fourth among Stephens County Republican voters with 372 votes, or 8.94 percent, while John Kasich finished fifth with 157 votes, or 3.77 percent.

Jeb Bush finished sixth with 75 votes.

Other vote-getters among Stephens County Republicans were Mike Huckabee with 9, Chris Christie with 8, Rand Paul with 6, Carly Fiorina with 4, Lindsey Graham with 3, and Rick Santorum with 1.

Moving to the Democratic side in Stephens County, Hillary Clinton received 460 votes, or 60.69 percent.

Bernie Sanders received 284 votes in Stephens County, or 37.47 percent. Also receiving votes were Martin O’Malley with 10 and Michael Steinberg with 4.

Turnout for the presidential primary was 42.52 percent in Stephens County.

Registrar Bill Cochran said that everything went well on Tuesday at the polls.

“Very few glitches,” said Cochran. “It went very well. Very short wait times. The poll workers pulled through again. They did a great job.”

He also thanked the poll managers and assistant poll managers for doing an excellent job.

All results are unofficial until they are certified by election officials.

There are 19 provisional ballots in Stephens County that will be ruled on by Friday.
