Eaton Confirms 21 Recent Layoffs

A Stephens County company confirms layoffs took place last month.

The Eaton Corporation confirmed to WNEG News that management met with employees at the Eastanollee facility back on May 10 to inform them of the company’s plans to reduce the workforce there by 21 positions.

A company official said that Eaton, and industrial manufacturing in general, experienced a full year of down markets throughout 2015.

The official said they see this trend continuing in 2016, with a second year of decline in their end markets.

According to Eaton, the company had previously announced it would accelerate and expand its restructuring and cost reduction activities this year to address these negative market conditions.

The company called the changes at the Eastanollee facility difficult because they affect valued team members, but necessary as part of an effort to compete more effectively in these challenging economic times.

Eaton said eligible employees were offered the company’s severance package.

The company went on to say this difficult decision in no way reflects on the hard work of the people in this facility, and added it is acutely aware of the impact this type of announcement has on its valued employees, their families, and the community at-large.
Eaton’s Eastanollee facility employs approximately 160 people and manufactures aerospace components.
