Drought Monitor Calls Stephens Co. ‘Abnormally Dry’

Abnormally dry conditions are back in much of northeast Georgia, including Stephens County.

That is according to the latest report from the U.S. Drought Monitor issued last week.

This past week, abnormally dry conditions expanded from far north Georgia down across Stephens County.

None of the state, though, has moved into full-fledged drought conditions at this time.

Last week, nearly 42 percent of the state was in abnormally dry conditions across Georgia, with that area being mainly in north Georgia and west Georgia.

That compares to the week before when less than 12 percent of the state, all in far north Georgia, was seeing abnormally dry conditions.
