Dragons Overpower Indians

Stephens County drops its first region game of the season and sees its six-game winning streak snapped on the road.

Friday night, the Indians lost their first Region 8-AAAA game of the season in Jefferson, 35-7, to the Dragons.

Two second quarter touchdowns for Jefferson gave the Dragons a comfortable lead that they would not relinquish.

In the first quarter, Jefferson running back Colby Wood ran for a 9-yard touchdown to make it 7-0.

Then, Wood caught two touchdown passes in the second quarter from quarterback Colby Clark, one of which was an 84-yard play, to help Jefferson go up 21-0 at halftime.

Clark would add a 13-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter to make it 28-0 in favor of the Dragons and Zack Boobas ran for a score in the fourth quarter to make it 35-0, Dragons.

The Indians scored their only touchdown late in the fourth quarter on a 9-yard Hassan Brown touchdown run.

Brown’s run was set up by a 35-yard pass completion from Indian quarterback Jackson Bell to Kainan Green,

Stephens County drops to 7-2 on the season and 3-1 in Region 8-AAAA.

Jefferson improves to 8-1 overall and 4-0 in the region.

The Indians have already clinched a berth in the state playoffs and will wrap up the regular season at home this Friday as they host North Oconee.
