The Doyle Street Pool remains closed as work continues to get the pool open for swimming.
Toccoa-Stephens County YMCA CEO Robin Dake said Friday that they have still not been able to properly balance the chemicals in the pool as required to get Health Department approval and open the pool.
So it will not open Friday or over the weekend.
The YMCA first expected to open the pool around Memorial Day.
However, the pool did not open at that time due to problems with the pump and with leaks in the pool.
Then earlier this month, Toccoa City Commissioner Gail Fry announced that Patterson Pump had fixed the pump issues and that the city had assisted with other needed repairs and it was again hoped that the pool would open in a matter of days.
However, Dake said other issues arose, including the difficulties balancing the chemicals and some other leak issues.
Dake said it has been “one issue after another” that the Y has struggled with in opening the pool.
She added that the YMCA apologizes for the delay in opening the pool.
