Downed Tree Caused Tuesday Power Outage

Georgia Power said a tree was to blame for the power outage that affected a wide swath of Toccoa on Tuesday.

The outage took place during the early morning hours.

According to a Georgia Power spokesman, a live tree fell onto a power line off of Collier Road, causing the outage.

Tuesday morning’s outage affected an area including part of Big A Road, Collins Road, Rose Lane, Skyline Drive, and Rothell Road, among others.

In all, an estimated 1,250 people or so were affected by the outage at one point, per numbers from Georgia Power.

Some of the power was restored by 6 a.m. Tuesday and all of the power was restored by mid-morning on Tuesday.
